One can take a ferry or felucca to Elephantine Island - site of the Aswan museum, and numerous tourist hotels
Tombs of ancient nobles on west bank, topped by more recent tomb of Muslim holy man.
New tourist hotel construction stopped by authorities (8 yr ago) because it was deemed to be a potential eyesore....

Third century BC Temple of Philae built by Ptolemies and Romans; it was moved to Agilika Island to avoid being submerged by Lake Nasser.
