Some of the reasons reflect internal-personal motivations whereas others reflect more external-social motivations. Of course, people may be motiviated for both internal and external reasons; we want to emphasize that neither type of motivation is by definition better than the other. In addition, we want to be clear that we are not evaluating you or your individual responses. All your responses will be completely confidential. We are simply trying to get an idea of the types of motivations that students in general have to responding in nonprejudiced ways. If we are to learn anything useful, it is important that you respond to each of the questions openly and honestly.
