Dear ,

I hope this letter finds you well, and perhaps, getting ready to make a trip to Westmont to celebrate our 15-year class reunion October 16 and 17. It is hard to believe I met most of you 19 years ago. Time flies.

The class of 2013 has arrived in time to witness the completion of the first new building on campus since 1985. Campus planners, friends, and Westmont alumni saw the first fruits of their hard work when, on September 10, they watched the College’s Keck Telescope being lowered into the metallic dome at the new observatory. Students will start attending classes at the yet-to-be-named observatory in January, and the telescope will be available for public viewing at Homecoming on Friday, October 16. I hope you’ll consider joining the College for this exciting event!

The completion of the observatory marks a milestone in Westmont’s master plan construction. The observatory is the first of many new buildings that current and future Westmont students will enjoy. A huge thank you goes out to you for your prayers and support as the College has striven to reach this goal. Read more about the new observatory and the Keck Telescope. You can also see photos and follow construction progress.

I’d also like to share with you some news about an impressive exhibition at Westmont’s Reynolds Art Gallery. “Sordid and Sacred: The Beggars in Rembrandt’s Etchings” will be on display until Saturday, October 31. Reynolds Gallery and Director Judy L. Larson invite visitors to view the 36 etchings from the John Villarino Collection. Please make plans to enjoy this remarkable exhibit during Homecoming weekend on October 16 and 17.

I look forward to seeing many of you at our 15-year class reunion events on October 16 and 17 here in Santa Barbara. Friday night, our class will be having an informal adults only dessert at 8:30pm to 10:30pm at Shelley Fogg’s house, and Saturday night we’ll be meeting downtown from 5:30pm to 9pm at a restaurant called Silvergreens, 791 Chapala Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101, Kids are welcome to come Saturday night!

I look forward to seeing those of you that can make it to our reunion. God bless you.

Ramon Gupta
