Hello Class of 2001,

We pray that this letter finds you well! We are in a wonderful time of celebration with family and friends during this Christmas season and New Year to come.

It is our hope that these quarterly newsletters will help reconnect you with Westmont and with your fellow classmates. If there is anything you'd like to see for our next newsletter in March or personal updates you would like to contribute, please send us an email at classagents@westmont.edu. We love hearing from you!

We would like to ask each of you to pray for the ministries and well-being of Westmont alumni as they serve in various capacities throughout the world. This map shows the geographical spread of Westmont alumni outside the United States, and seeing it reminds us that Westmont and each of us alumni are serving Christ wherever He leads us.

P.S. I received this email last week from a Westmont friend, and I hope that the reflection encourages you as you remember the real reason for this holiday season. What a blessing to be connected to you across the miles and over the years.

During advent I often reflect on Mary. She has become very significant in my formation and prayer. I love to reflect on her life, what her feelings would have been and her inner dialogue during her life. And then I think of Jesus and his journey. I often come around to the conclusion of the lonely road, the lonely road to God. Our calls are so unique to each of us, and each road becomes lonely in that we have to give our "yes" to God for the road He has asked us to travel.

Its hard to say "yes" when no one else's road looks like yours. Jesus and Mary both had lonely roads, and yet they are the most beautiful of roads because they lead to the Father. They said "yes" to playing their part in the story of God.

Loneliness has become part of my journey that I know is God's tool for me to look more to Him. And also, this morning it came to me in a strong way that not all times are lonely. The time in my life that I got to spend with, laugh with, study with, cry with, sleep with, stay up way too late with, live with you all was such a rich time for me! I couldn't be more grateful for each of you, knowing that you too are saying "YES" to God in your lives. Your lives are encouragements to me, even from very far away, and I think they always will be since we were formed together at such a wonderful moment in time: college.

So this advent, as I think of Mary in her loneliness, I know that she also had Elizabeth. You have all been kindred spirits to me, and I'm forever grateful to God that He gave us each other. God's richness to each of you today.
