Hi Class of '05,

Merry Christmas to you all!

For those of you who didn't receive the last newsletter that went out, I hope these letters serve as connection points amongst our Westmont graduating class from wherever we are living at this time in life. Click here to view a map of the class of 2005. For four years our lives overlapped and we "grew up" together during a period when lifelong decisions were made and identities were further established. At our 5-yr reunion earlier this year, several classmates provided updates/reflections to share:

The map to the right shows where Westmont alumni are living and serving outside the U.S. in their various capacities. Let it be an encouragement to you to live intentionally wherever you are and a reminder to pray for these folks who share a common experience with us.

I hope you have been enjoying this Advent season. It's unfortunate that we (at least, I) allow life to speed up during this season rather than more appropriately slow down. A few things that have centered me are certain Christmas songs and lines from Scripture. Following is a verse from O Holy Night and a couple Scripture verses particularly meaningful to me this season:

Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned (Isaiah 9:2).

In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:4-5).

I hope you all have a joyful and wonder-filled Christmas.
