Hello Westmont 2002 alumni! I hope this email finds you all doing well! As your new Class Agent, I have the pleasure of writing a series of quarterly newsletters for our graduating class to help you stay connected with your fellow alumni and keep you informed of the latest news and events occurring at Westmont. You'll also hear from others in our class about what they've been up to since graduation. My hope is that you remain an active member of the ever-growing Westmont community and find your place of involvement in the ongoing life and mission of the college. I hope you'll enjoy hearing from our friends and former classmates, and I'd welcome any of you who would like to share what you've been doing these last 9 years since leaving Westmont. Contact me by email at classagents@westmont.edu. For our first newsletter, I'd like to start by sharing an update of what I've done since my time at Westmont. After graduation I left for Europe to study international business and work on my Masters in International Management. My wife, Dayna Crawford '03, and I moved to Los Angeles after our wedding in August of 2005. Last year we were blessed with the birth of our first child, Hadley Noelle O'Neil. Hadley is full of energy and is already on the move. She started walking at a young age and hasn't stopped since. She is very adventurous and full of joy. Our prayers for her are that she doesn't lose the joy that she has and that she comes to a saving knowledge of Christ. My wife and I have had the distinct pleasure of joining a group of talented educators in the founding of a new Christian High School on the Westside of Los Angeles. The school opened in the fall of 2005 and has grown from 40 students to 200 students over the last six years. I serve as the Assistant Head of School, which has allowed me to use the knowledge I gained as a business major at Westmont and the experiences I had at a distinctly Christian but highly academic institution. I believe that my time at Westmont was integral in preparation for the work I am involved in now. Westmont instilled in me a passion for knowledge, helped me develop deeper in my faith and inspired me to use my talents to impact the community. The years I have spent working with students have deepened my conviction of the value of Christian schooling. Colleges like Westmont are involved in the great task of educating the next generation of Christian leaders who do not rely on the wisdom of our world but on Christ preeminent in all things. A Christian liberal arts education brings enjoyment to the soul as you move from knowing about God and his creation to knowing Him, because it is only by Him you can truly see all else. It is for this reason that I find it important to support the good work that Westmont is doing. I look forward to hearing about the journey that God has led you on since graduation. It is an encouragement to all to see how God is moving in each of us and how he uses our unique gifts to impact the world. David O'Neil
