Giving to Westmont

Hello Class of '05,

Happy Fall to you all! The days are getting shorter, the air is crisper, and where the heck did October go? This newsletter we have contributions from Paul Angone and myself. Paul's piece is "Chapter 0" from a book he recently wrote entitled All Groan Up: Searching for Self, Faith, and a Freaking Job!

What's the purpose of these newsletters again? So we can hear each other's stories, be encouraged by one another, and stay connected to each other and Westmont. (Click on the pics below to open...)

Also, about 5 months ago, I put together a short survey to hear from the class. Here are the responses...

1. What is something you want to do, or what is a goal you want to accomplish by the end of 2015?
  • Have a couple babies...and/or be a Executive Director of a local non-profit.
  • MBA.
  • Westmont Women's Soccer to win another championship.
  • Moving away from San Diego.
  • Have a kid.
  • Be fluent in Spanish. And write a book.
  • Starting a family.
  • Train a therapy dog and get involved in ministry with the sick and elderly.
  • Be established in my career and have 2 kids.
  • Grow closer to God!
2. What sort of investment/giving to Westmont is most fulfilling for you?
  • Prayer support and encouraging staff.
  • Giving financially (only option from distance).
  • Student mentoring/financial.
  • Helping out on campus. Helping during the fires was a lot of fun for me.
  • Giving financially--I love when students call to ask! It's so fun to chat with them!
  • Alumni-Student mentoring or writing personal stories/accounts for Westmont magazines/brochures/website.
  • Mentoring and praying with and for students.
  • Alumni-student mentoring.
  • Being involved in the school, whether through events on campus or in the community that Westmont is engaged in.
3. What question would you like to ask the rest of the class for a future newsletter?
  • Have you found it difficult to keep growing in your relationship with God since graduating?
  • What has been the most fulfilling for you since you left Westmont?
  • What do you love about the city you live in now?
  • What is one thing you wish you would have known when you started college?
  • What's been your most memorable post-college experience?
  • Are you happy with the way your post-Westmont life turned out?
  • How has your Westmont experience impacted you?

Blessings to you,
Ryan
