Giving to Westmont

Dear Class of 2006,

We hope your Summer went very well. If you're going to be in Santa Barbara on October 14-15, we hope you'll drop by homecoming for our 5-year reunion and catch up with friends ...we (Megan and Nick Burwell) will be there throughout the weekend, but I (Dominique Rastrelli Glanville) will be wishing I could.

Emilee Hurlbert is our reunion leader this year...If you haven't been getting her updates on Reunion plans, you can join our Class Facebook group.

We look forward to seeing many of you at Homecoming (Nick and Megan), and if any of you stop by the Portland area, feel free to drop me (Dominique) a line...Our email address is classagents2006@westmont.edu. As always, we welcome and invite you to send us an article about what you've been up to recently. We'll collect your responses and include them in our next newsletter in December. For this newsletter, Melissa Stocking sent this update about the work that she's doing in Mexico. (By the way, we're always so thankful for Westmont where we all got to know amazing people like this...)

In His Grace,
Nick and Megan Burwell and Dominique Rastrelli Glanville

History / French

2011 has marked the biggest transition year of my adult life since our Westmont graduation. At the end of May I concluded four years and four months of service as the head of administration at Agua Viva Ministries in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. My time at Agua Viva was an ongoing adventure: doing life in a new language, taking on the responsibility of managing finances for the entire organization, serving in the community, teaching history of Christianity to Mexican seminary students, and traveling throughout Mexico visiting indigenous people groups and isolated communities where electricity, running water and telephone lines have yet to arrive. At the end of the summer I relocated to Portland, OR. I am hoping to find work using my Spanish to serve the local Latino community. I am excited to be living in a new place and curious to see if I can cope with the rainy weather after so many years of California sunshine.
