About the program

The original leadership team (8 students) began talking to each other about forming a mentorship program at Westmont near the end of Spring 2005. Over the summer the team was built and discussions began with the administration. The team went full-force into making the program happen as the Fall 2005 semester began. Meetings with the administration as well as the residence life staff took place. Mentors were recruited, and the first-year RAs began sharing the idea with their sections. We had an online form available for both mentors and mentees, and had about 40 mentees sign up for the program. We were able to match them all with great mentors, and met throughout the year with the mentors and the mentees for feedback and to hear how their experiences were going. Currently we are looking for many new mentors and a new school year has arrived so hopefully many new mentees as well. This is the first year that the program has been in place in time for First-Year orientation. Please fill out a form online (go to "Sign Up") if you have not already done so!
